Angus Dubhghall
Monroe, LA
Angus Dubhghall draws its name from ancient Scottish heritage: Angus is not only a family name for the McCandlish's, but was also the name of a wild and fierce chieftan, as was Dubhghall, whose name is Scots-gaelic meaning 'dark stranger'. Singer and bodhran player Tom McCandlish has a strong, passionate voice that carries listeners back to Scotland. His is a voice that you will not forget. Fiddler Mary McCandlish is classically trained as a pianist and violinist, having been a member of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra for 10 years. Rickey Pittman provides strong guitar accompaniment to Angus Dubhghall’s original arrangements of traditional and contemporary Celtic songs. Joining the group this year with acoustic bass guitar is the talented Brad Shelton whose love for music and radio voice is well known in Northeast Louisiana.
