Emerald Accent Irish Music was founded by Clark Lowery in Laurel, Mississippi in the spring of 2010 for the enhancement of the Celtic cultures through music in South Mississippi. Emerald Accent includes members Clark Lowery (vocals, guitar, banjo), Steve Payne (low and high whistles, harmonica), Gail Fox (fiddle), Brian Kraiser (bodhran). With backgrounds in Irish, Bluegrass, Blues and Classical, the band brings freshness to the genre while priding itself in the Irish traditional style. The band loves working as a ceili band while also producing slow soothing slow jigs and waltzes. We have played for dances, concerts, pubs, and receptions. Emerald Accent is a well-rounded band for those who enjoy Irish music.
Since its establishment the band has performed all around Mississippi from the coast to the capitol with our highlight being the participation in the Celtic Festival in Jackson every year. We also supply the music for most of the Mostly Monthly Ceili’s at Fenian’s Irish Pub in Jackson. Since the band revolves around the Hattiesburg/Laurel area, we perform in that area the most. Since March 2010, Emerald Accent Irish Music has hosted the Laurel Irish Ceili every year using Catherine Bishop of the Jackson Irish Dancers to lead the dance as well as perform to the live music of Emerald Accent.
