Peg Loyd & John Burleson were accidentally paired by Don Penzien at CelticFest 2006. Having never performed together, the two arrived at the festival just in time and combined for a fun and impromptu set. Loyd & Burleson enjoyed performing together and got rave reviews, leading to return performances at CelticFest 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010 and at NTIF (Dallas) in 2011. Burleson’s gift for storytelling and Loyd’s gifted voice for storytelling through songs, plus the uplifting tunes and jazzy rhythms on bodhran and guitar, make this a dynamic duo. Loyd, who released her debut CD, Carving in Stone, in 2008, has won three medals for songwriting at the Midwest Fleadh – Gold (2008) for “The Fiddler’s Feet”; Bronze (2009) for “The Forgotten Ten” and silver (2010) for “’Til Night Became Day.” She’s a three-time All-Ireland finalist (twice for songwriting, once for bodhran) and a contributing author of two books.
