Luck Penny
Baton Rouge, LA

HeatherLuck Penny developed when Rachael Blake and Kendall Rogers began playing together at sessions in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette, LA.  Flutist Rachael began playing at the age of seven, but did not discover Irish traditional music until studying at Oberlin College.  She also studied at The Flowing Tide Music School in Doonbeg, Co. Clare, Ireland, and is a founding member of the Virginia-based traditional music group Handsome Molly.  Rachael has been an active session player in San Francisco, Boston, Baltimore, Virginia, and New Orleans.  Kendall is a piano and bodhran player who also dabbles in accordion, whistle, and guitar.  Despite some classical and jazz influences, Kendall is steeped in the rich folk music and dance traditions of his native Kentucky.  He enjoys playing at Celtic festivals and for folk dancing across the US, putting his own mark on the music of Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, England and North America.
