The N.O. Quarter Shanty Krewe is an ensemble of enthusiasts based in the greater New Orleans area sharing a passion for, and fascination in the sea’s music and lore. The Krewe is focuses on connecting shanties and water songs to historical New Orleans and its role as a world class port in the 19th century sailing trade as well as its reputation among seafarers for being a world class sailor town. The Krewe gathers for “sessions” and performs on occasions appropriate to our passion. We seek every opportunity to infect others with this dying folk art -thereby cultivating stronger choruses.
