St. Brigid's

St. Brigid’s is named for the fifth-century Irish saint credited with turning her bath water into beer. She's an inspiration for our group, whose repertoire is inspired by and drawn from the traditional songs of Ireland and the British Isles. Along with those good old-fashioned songs of death, betrayal and star-crossed love, St. Brigid's will bring you some modern favorites, a selection of tunes that will get the Irish dancers in the crowd on their feet, and a few songs that are there just to make you smile. Our members are Susan Wellman (vocals, whistle, accordion); Julia Weems (vocals, guitar); Allison Jenkins (vocals, accordion); Margaret Cupples (vocals, dance); Catherine Bishop (vocals, bodhrán, dance); and frequent guest artist Jamie Weems (mandolin). We each bring a different slice of musical experience, but we all share with our patron saint a love of a great tune, a hot bath, and a well-poured pint.
